Sec. of Education Murphy to recognize 80 top seniors

Top students from Delaware's public high schools will be honored April 29 as exemplary scholars of the graduating Class of 2013 at the annual Secretary of Education's Scholars Dinner at Dover Downs Hotel in Dover. The dinner is at 6 p.m. with the presentation beginning at 6:45 p.m.
Each year, the state's political and education leaders gather with the honored students, their families and their school and district leadership to celebrate the students' achievements and wish them well as they continue their education at some of the nation's top colleges and universities.

Four DE students to compete at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair

Bansri Patel from Seaford, Mikayla Ockels from Milton, and Edward Bao and Martin Kurian from Hockessin are among the 14 future scientists from southern New Jersey, southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware headed to Phoenix, AZ, to participate in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, May 12 to 17.

Ranging from age 14-18, the students are medal winners of the Delaware Valley Science Fairs, held April 4 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, Oaks, Pa. More than 1,000 students in grades 6 through 12 competed for more than $3 million in scholarships and awards including the all-expense-paid trip to the international competition, where high school freshmen through seniors from 70 foreign countries and 48 states will compete for scholarships and prizes valued in the millions.
